Learning About Physics with Preschoolers

As an Experience Early Learning Blog Ambassador, we receive the Experience Early Learning preschool curriculum in exchange for sharing our honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, our opinions on amazing things for children are 100% our own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best judgement when planning activities for your children.

This month's theme from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time) is Science Lab and this week the preschoolers are learning all about physics.

So far this week, we've talked about sound and light as well as force and friction.

Today's Experience Early Learning topic was gravity. They learned that it's an invisible “force.” We did several experiments with gravity.

One was dropping a rock and a pompom from the same height.

They all said the rock would hit first and they were astonished that they dropped at the same time!

We had fun dropping all kinds of things from the same height and from different heights.

They each made guesses as to what would hit the ground first. We also made pompom paintings by dropping them onto our paper.

It was another great week filled with lots of hands-on learning!

Don't forget to check back next week to see what we're up with our Science Lab theme from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time).
