As an Experience Early Learning Blog Ambassador, we receive the Experience Early Learning preschool curriculum in exchange for sharing our honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, our opinions on amazing things for children are 100% our own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best judgement when planning activities for your children.
This month's thematic study from Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time) is Art Studio and it looks like so much fun!
The first week is Art In Italy. We looked at a map and pretended to get on a plane to fly to Italy.
Today we learned about portraits and self-portraits. We looked at painters such as Leonardo DaVinci (most knew the name from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as well as other famous portraits not from Italy such as Vincent Van Gogh.
We also looked at a fun book called "Let's Make Faces" and had a good time making faces from items around the room.
During this week's lessons, we explored mirrors. One of our STEAM stations gave the children the opportunity to look into a mirror and draw their faces on the mirror with dry-erase markers.
We discussed what they noticed about their faces as well as what shapes and colors they saw.
Our math activity for the day was "Portrait Puzzles." The children practiced working together to complete the portrait puzzles and discussing their similarities and differences.
For our literacy activity, we wrote our names on white paper in white crayon and then brushed over it with watercolor They were shocked when their names "magically appeared" on the paper.
Don't forget to check back as we continue to learn about different artists this month with Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time).
