As an Experience Early Learning Blog Ambassador, we receive the Experience Early Learning preschool curriculum in exchange for sharing our honest and authentic stories resulting from our personal experiences. As always, our opinions on amazing things for children are 100% our own. Keep in mind that all preschoolers do things in their own time and on their own terms. What one is ready for, another might not be. Please use your best judgement when planning activities for your children.
This week, we're learning about Types of Dinosaurs, and today's topic is Brontosaurus.
Each day, Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time) includes either an Invitation to Create or a Make & Play activity for Creative Art.
I've talked about the process art activities several times already, but right now I want to focus on a Make & Play.
The preschoolers had a wonderful time making their very own Brontosaurus Puppet crafts. Activities such as this one are a great way to practice creative thinking and fine motor skills.
Our favorite thing about the Make & Play activities is that once your preschoolers are finished making their puppets, it's time to play with them.
Dramatic play is perfect for encouraging social-emotional and communication skills. Children can learn so much about the world around them through pretend play.
Each Make & Play activity includes detailed instructions as well as prompts. Here's an example of what's included in the Teacher Guide for today's Brontosaurus Make & Play from Experience Early Learning.

Make
Encourage the child to cut out leaves for a tree and glue them onto one of the craft sticks.
Color and decorate the Brontosaurus and glue it onto the other craft stick.
Set out the foam sticker eyes for children to attach to the Brontosaurus.
Play
Encourage the child the invent a story and use the props to tell it.
Create a dinosaur land with sand and nature items. What do the children want to add to their puppet habitat?
The preschoolers love to play with their puppets and especially in either the block center or dramatic play.
Either way, these Make & Play Creative Art activities have so many wonderful benefits for preschool-aged learners.
Don't forget to check back next week to see what we're up to with Experience Early Learning (formerly Mother Goose Time) as we learn about Dinosaur Body Parts.
